Who we are
At the height of the green rush movement in California, when people flocked to the fields of cannabis in pursuit of quick fortunes, two brothers out of San Francisco had an alternative idea. Instead of risking it all on the illegal growing and selling side of the industry, why not pioneer it agriculturally ?
The Guano Co was founded in 1982 by the Twoomey Brothers out of a small historic barn in Trinidad California - a fertilizer company with the purpose to supply the agricultural industry with high quality guano (seabird and bat) and other additives like earthworm casting, and kelp meal from around the world.
What was once a simple wholesaling business selling guano fertilizer to farm and garden stores in California, grew into a full brand offering a diverse set of products in wet and dry form that is currently distributed to retail wholesalers across the United States. What sets Guano Co apart is their simple yet highly effective process - a top secret formula with only 7 ingredients that is either brewed (if wet form) or mixed (if dry form). The business is lean and mean - run and operated by seven people all together.
To provide premium plant food and amendments for cannabis and home & garden
About our Founder
Brent Twoomey grew up in Marin County during the heart of the 1960's at the height of all the musical culture. He moved to Humboldt to go to Humboldt State University where he fell in love with the redwoods. His love very much influenced his involvement with many redwoods related projects in Trinidad. For 10 years he founded and ran a tour bus business for the Redwood National Park as a service for the tourists and locals of the community. Tours encompassed site visits to “The Tallest Tree” , Prairie Creek, Lady Bird Johnson and Bald Hills rd. His passion for the redwoods got him a seat at the Save the Redwoods League, where he has been a member now of over 35 years.
His humanitarian involvement did not stop there - he upscaled his business and started chasing wild fires for the National Fire Center out of Boise Idaho. He ran a 24 crew carrier transporting fire fighters to and from all the epicenters of the natural disaster. All while managing his Guano Company remotely in its peak season, as well.
Brent's other hobbies are in wood connoisseur craftsmanship where he takes pride in search of fine curly redwood and madrone that he loves to build houses with. One of those houses is here in Friday Harbor out on the westside and four houses in Trinidad CA. Brent also loves The Rolling Stones and has participated in seeing well over 50 concerts across the U.S and the UK. Brent also loves History, Current Events in the News and the art of natural landscapes.
